Consultant Clinical Oncologist, University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust - Prostate and Upper GI Cancer Specialist

Dr. Angus Robinson

Dr. Angus Robinson is a consultant clinical oncologist whose practice focuses on prostate cancer, delivering radiotherapy, brachytherapy and systemic treatments across all stages of disease. He has been a consultant in Brighton and Sussex since 2006, caring for patients at the Sussex Cancer Centre and affiliated hospitals.

 

Clinical & Academic Focus

  • Manages the full prostate‑cancer pathway from active surveillance and hormone therapy through to IMRT/IGRT external‑beam radiotherapy, high‑dose‑rate brachytherapy and novel treatments for castration‑resistant metastatic disease.
  • Provides ongoing care for men with advanced prostate cancer, integrating clinical‑trial opportunities where appropriate.

 

Research & Teaching

  • Principal investigator locally for multiple national and international prostate‑cancer trials, including studies of systemic agents in metastatic disease.
  • Previously Clinical Lead for the Sussex Cancer Research Network and clinical lead for the Oncology department, and currently Radiotherapy lead for the department.
  • Regular speaker at patient‑support meetings and professional events, explaining new data and practical aspects of prostate‑cancer management.

 

Leadership & Honours

  • Clinical Lead for oncology teams within East Sussex services, supporting multidisciplinary working and service development.
  • Medical adviser to regional prostate‑cancer support groups such as PCaSO and Mid Sussex Prostate Cancer Support Group.
  • Contributor to national collaborative projects in radiation oncology and clinical trials, including large multicentre studies reported in leading journals.

 

A Personal Note

Angus is described by patients as a thoughtful, approachable clinician who takes time to discuss options from surveillance to intensive treatment, helping men weigh longevity against side‑effects and everyday impact. Outside the clinic he is an enthusiastic long‑distance cyclist and fundraiser, most recently riding from Brighton to Edinburgh for charity.
